Farm of the Month
June 2016

“Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than hey?” – Matthew 6:26

Witmer Farms is a farm rich in heritage and faith. Adam Wenger, a native from Virginia, was the first to settle the original family farm located in Salem, OH. Each generation has passed the torch on to the next – Adam Wenger to Enos Witmer, Enos Witmer to Owen Witmer, and now Owen Witmer to his son Roger. In March 2015 Roger & Kim officially purchased the farm and still live at the original homestead established by Adam Wenger in 1904.

Owen is still an active participant on the farm. Owen and Roger along with their employees, Monte and Delton Weaver, milk 190 cows and care for a total of 360 head. Monte, the herdsmen, has been with the Witmers for 8 years and his brother, Delton the herd feeder, has been a helpful addition moving to full time within the last year. Like most farmers, Roger has a favorite cow #379.

Not only do they run a dairy but they plant over 350 acres both owned and rented land consisting ofdcorn, alfalfa, and beans. Roger loves the outdoor work and he looks forward to it every day.

Roger and Kim have three children that have not only been involved in the day to day care and activities on the farm but they have also been active in their local 4-H taking Dairy Beef Feeders to the county fair. In addition, the Witmers are active members in their church, overjoyed to serve the Lord in all they do.

We Salute Witmer Farms!
